So, as you all have seen on my Twitch stream, I'm starting to dabble a little more in more 'competitive' games like Heroes of the Storm, Starcraft, and DOTA 2.
Overwatch is coming out on Tuesday (the 24th), and I think I'll be adding that to the list.
Anyone recommend some multiplayer games that are easy to get into, but take time to really get good?

I've been digging Z. Year One (which is in alpha and going to early access soon). It's a card battle game, much like MtG but with interesting mechanics.

Rofl, basically, now that I'm a speedrunner, every game can be a competitive one for me =P Especially the ones I'm on at the moment \o/

I wouldn't say it's all about dedication but curiosity really. And you would be that type of runner, Kami. For example, I run Jade Cocoon, and it's about an hour long. Nothing complicated, progression/improvement almost every attempt. Nostalgia brought back ... could be a nice backup for when your other online competitive games are a bit too heavy to handle because the need to be better and better. 'Cause yeah, speedrunning isn't just about the speed, but the feeling of doing something you like, fast enough to enjoy, and good enough to satisfy your thirst for gaming ^^

If there was a single competitive game I had to pick, it definitely would be Magic The Gathering. I had fun playing great games like Star Craft/Starcraft: Brood War, Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos/The Frozen Throne, League of Legends, Heroes of the Storm and some others that slip my mind but as of right now, that drive I once had is gone. It seems alittle depressing and I would love to get that fire back that fueled my obsession to be better.
I honestly think that once I feel comfortable again with steam's Magic Duels, that engulfing flame of striving to be better will come back and explode.

Yeah I could see you getting really good at Magic if you keep at your current pace, especially streaming and giving commentary while you do so some of the Hearthstone streamers that do that find a very good community and they get better VERY quickly

I tried to repress much of times playing fighters. But I will say Tekken Tag, Soul Edge/Soul Caliber 2, Nightwarriors: Darkstalker's Revenge, and x-Men: Children of the Atom were some of my favorite arcade competitive fighters.

Haha it'll bring the hood out of you for sure. Darkstalkers may come back. There's always talks about it. Would love a new Marvel fighting game. Hopefully going back to selling the licences will bring out a new Marvel vs Capcom game.

Now that I've updated to Windows 10, maybe I should give that new Killer Instinct a shot. Isn't it set up to where only one character is free, and the other are pay-to-play options?
